Even prior the SA government became formally involved in education, Lutheran communities established their own schools because they were concerned about the coming of their children. They wanted to yield for the growth of their children spiritually, intellectually, socially and physically. Their objective was to ascertain the feasibility of a Lutheran Christian school in the external western suburbs. This site was chosen as it was in the main western growth corridor from Melbourne and had all available services and a pleasant outlook. With the support and encouragement from the Lutheran Church of Australia, Government funding was applied for in 1995. Approval was granted for the opening of a Prep to Year 6 single stream Christian school that opened in 1997. Verne Ziersch was appointed as the school’s architect, to design and draw plans for the Committee and the Wyndham City Council. 2009 : Six new classrooms and a multipurpose room were built to cater for expansion to secondary education. 2011 : Year 7 is added to the College’s year levels, with an surplus year level to be added every year for the following six years. Work begins on expanding the College onto 570 Tarneit Road, with a packed sized oval Science block and Technology block lower construction. Students will be given the opportunity to participate in a variety of educational programmed, with a focus on Australian history, culture, law and democracy. To aid families in meeting the cost of this camp, the Australian Government is contributing funding of 30 per student lower the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate programmed towards those costs. The rebate is paid directly to the College upon completion of the camp. The students will also be considering leadership, what it is and how they can be leaders in the College and the community in general. To enhance this accepting we will have a guest speaker future in one evening to talk to the students and share their life journey as a social advocate.
